This week at POSTECH, the campus is hosting AutumnFest with a focus on Hungary. The festival is designed to introduce Hungarian culture through events like lectures, performances, food booths, and the Golden Bell Quiz. It has been interesting to learn about a country positioned at the center of Europe, with its own history, traditions, and everyday lifestyle. I joined to experience something new and to see how culture can connect people in meaningful ways. This post shares moments from the festival.

The Golden Bell Quiz was led by two hosts who brought a lot of energy to the room. They guided each round clearly and kept the atmosphere light and engaging, which helped everyone relax and enjoy the competition. The stage setup included a large screen and the symbolic golden bell, making the event feel more memorable. Even though it was a quiz, it felt more like a shared experience where everyone participated together rather than just a contest.

Before the quiz began, everyone sat on the floor in small pairs, with groups formed randomly. It naturally mixed Korean and international students, which made the atmosphere more open and relaxed. Each spot had a writing board, marker, and a small yellow hat placed neatly in front, creating a unified and organized setup. The seating style felt casual, as if we were all on the same level, making it easier to talk, cooperate, and focus together throughout the event.

My teammate and I were paired randomly, but we ended up working together very well throughout the quiz. We discussed each question carefully, shared ideas, and trusted each other’s guesses when we needed to move quickly. At the end of the event, our teamwork paid off and we actually won a Rubik’s cube as a prize, which is originally from Hungary. It felt meaningful to receive something connected to the theme, and it made the experience even more memorable.

This photo shows the winners of the 2025 Hungarian Quiz Bell competition proudly standing on stage with their certificates after successfully completing the challenge. The competition tested their knowledge, speed, and teamwork. As for the prizes, the first-place winner received Bluetooth headphones, the second-place winner was awarded a Heung-min Son national football team jersey, the third-place winner got an Instax Mini 12 camera, and the fourth-place participant received a Formula 1 RC car. These prizes were given to celebrate their hard work and achievements.

At the Hungarian Dessert Tasting Experience at POSTECH, students gathered to try traditional Hungarian sweets like Palacsinta, a thin crepe-style dessert. A small booth was set up with plates of desserts, toppings, and friendly volunteers preparing and serving the food. People stopped by to taste, take photos, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. It was a simple but warm cultural exchange event, giving everyone a chance to experience a bit of Hungarian tradition in a casual and welcoming setting.

At the Networking Festival, the atmosphere was relaxed with music, lights, and students gathered around the main square. During the event, some students were randomly chosen by drawing names, and they received special gifts because they had signed up beforehand. There was also one large group that got gift vouchers together for being the biggest group to register as a team. It was a fun mix of performances, good food, and surprise rewards that made the evening even more exciting.

At the Networking Festival, we got a meal box filled with different kinds of sausages, tater tots, fried chicken bites, jalapeños, and snacks like crackers and pretzels. Along with drinks like Coke and beer, the highlight was definitely the chimney cake; sweet, warm, and surprisingly delicious. It tasted amazing. The food, music, and relaxed atmosphere made the whole evening feel cozy and enjoyable.

To wrap up the night, there was a live orchestra performance, and the atmosphere felt really special. The stage was glowing with bright lights, and the building behind it was outlined with light strips, making everything look modern and cool. The musicians, all dressed in black, played violins, cellos, and more in perfect harmony. People sat quietly, just enjoying the music. With the night breeze and soft lighting, it was a calm and beautiful way to end the festival.
